Martyn Cook<\/strong> grew up in the village of Armadale on the north coast of Sutherland, where he developed a strong connection to livestock farming and crofting from an early age. Coming from a traditional crofting background, he has a deep appreciation of the challenges and opportunities facing rural communities and remains a passionate advocate for their future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83c\udf3e Farming Background<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Now farming at Dorrery and Westfield, Halkirk, Caithness<\/strong>, Martyn runs the highly respected Dorrery flock<\/strong>. He is well known for breeding and exhibiting North Country Cheviots<\/strong>, and more recently breeding commercial sheep with Beltex\u2019s and Texels<\/strong> \u2014 producing animals that combine outstanding breed character, structural correctness, and commercial functionality. Through years of dedication to breeding, showing, and marketing pedigree stock, Martyn has built a reputation for producing high\u2011quality sheep capable of succeeding both in the show ring and in practical farming systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alongside his involvement in the sheep industry, Martyn is particularly keen to encourage and support young farmers. He believes in providing opportunities for youth participation in agriculture and recognises the vital role crofting plays in sustaining rural communities.<\/p>\n<\/div>

As a judge, Martyn values correctness, structural soundness, breed character, movement, and practicality<\/strong> \u2014 selecting stock that are not only visually impressive but capable of performing in real\u2011world farming systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
