Since the Aird school hall was demolished a large marquee has been used for exhibiting on show day. The marquee was damaged beyond repair before it could be dismantled after the 2019 show. Erecting and dismantling the tent required a lot of work and manpower, rather than purchase a new marquee, the society decided to build a storage shed that will be used as an exhibition area on show day.
Plans were drawn up and £38k of Crown Estate funding was secured. Then COVID-19 occurred and fundraising oportunies came to an end. The cost of the building increased substantially and the requirement for more extensive groundworks threatened to stop the project in its tracks. With the assistance of the local Councillors another 53k of Crown Estate funding was secured. The building was finally ordered in January 2022 arriving on site just as the Groundworks started in April.
