Point Agricultural Society is for everyone who supports the very best standards in agriculture, horticulture, forestry and stewardship of the countryside, which are such an essential part of our heritage – and our future.
A committee is elected by those who attend the Annual General meeting held in January each year.
Mission Statement
The Point Agricultural Society aims to educate and promote agriculture, horticulture, industry, and youth through community involvement. To bring people and business together through a range of inspiring events, including the Point Show: To promote a better understanding of food, farming/crofting and the countryside.
Strategic Plan
Vision Statement: To be the leading Agricultural Show in the Isle of Lewis.
Objectives:
· To deliver our charitable objectives effectively, publicise our activities and engage a broad network of support.
· To ensure the Society remains financially sustainable with adequate reserves.
· To support our volunteers to be a highly skilled and effective team.
· To ensure year on year growth through the provision of a high quality, good value experience at all our events.
· To inspire and educate young people whilst engaging a wider audience in agriculture and the countryside.
Charitable Objectives
The Society has the following charitable objectives
· The improvement of agriculture, forestry, horticulture, allied industries, rural crafts and the breeding of livestock.
· The demonstration of improved methods connected with the above.
· The holding of an Annual Show in Point.
· The encouragement of agricultural and horticultural education, research and experimental work.
· Encourage youth by providing competitions and exhibits during the annual agricultural show and educate the non-farm community of the importance of agriculture in their daily lives.
