POINT SHOW 2017 - Saturday 8 July

The 14th Point Show Sponsored by Point and Sandwick Power is on Saturday 8th July 2017.
Gates open at 1:00pm Show is to be opened by Cllr Alasdair Macleod at 1:30 pm.

Demonstrations, Sideshows and Games, Stalls and Crafts, Raffles and Prizes, Highland Dancing
Pipe Band & Live Music, BBQ, Teas and Snacks.  Point Show facebook page will update with What's on.

Sections and Classes

There are 11 competition sections comprising 145 classes.
Detailed information  is available in the Show brochure (available 23rd June) or on the Sections web page.

£1000 of prize money is up for grabs in the Community Award .
Sponsored by the Stornoway Trust,  Community villages coming first and second share the prize money.
2016 winners Knock and Swordale will be presented with the trophy at the opening of the 2017 show.

There is no Horse Section this year, entry forms for the Cattle and Sheep sections are required.

Car Parking

Car Parking arrangements can be viewed below.
A courtesy mini-bus will run all day between Sheshader road end and Macsween Drive. Please be patient and follow directions of traffic stewards.

Awards for All Scotland - Funding

In 2016 Point Agricultural Society  received a grant award from the Big Lottery Fund  - Awards for All Scotland for £10,000. The awards for all funding will enable the committee to purchase two new tents and a PA system for the Point Show.

The three current marquees have served the show for over ten years but are now near the end of their useful life.  In 2004 a lottery grant of £3000 went towards purchasing these marquees.

With the school hall out of commission the committee looked to secure funding to get a large marquee to house all the indoor sections that were situated in the hall.  The new marquees secured with the Awards For All Funding will ensure the Show continues to flourish; with over 1500 visitors the Point Show is the largest community event in Point.
